Roger Waters is aiming to take legal action against the planned concert cancellation in Frankfurt am Main and the possible cancellation of his Munich show.

The final concert of his “This Is Not a Drill” tour was originally supposed to take place in the Hessian metropolis on May 28th. The Bavarian state capital is now also discussing a possible ban on the performance on May 21st. The reason is the statements that are increasingly classified as anti-Semitic and his statements to the UN in connection with the war in Ukraine.

His management believes “that if left unchallenged, this blatant attempt to silence him could have serious and far-reaching consequences for artists and activists around the world.” The cancellations were based “on the false accusation that Roger Waters is anti-Semitic, which he is not,” the statement said. What is certain is that Waters equated the Holocaust that emerged from National Socialism with Israel’s foreign policy.

On March 17th, Waters’ tour starts in Lisbon. There were also protests and calls for the show to be canceled. Discussions will also continue in Germany. The city of Hamburg is still in a conflict with the private organizer of the Waters concert, and Cologne is also considering how to deal with Waters.
