Getting to the arena is fairly straightforward. However, the organizer points out that it is advisable to use public transport. The address of the BarclaysArena is: Sylvesterallee 10, 22525 Hamburg. However, Sylvesterallee will be closed due to the large number of visitors, which is why parking spaces can be found in Schnackenburgallee and Hellgrundweg.

Those who do not arrive by car can take bus lines 22 (Hellgrundweg/Arenen) and 180 (Am Volkspark) or the S-Bahn lines S3 and S21 (Stellingen/Arenen) to the BarclaysArena. A short walk of 10-15 minutes is to be planned for.

Why is the concert controversial?

There have been protests against the singer in several countries where Roger Waters has performed with his “This Is Not A Drill” tour. The reason for this are statements by the musician that are considered anti-Semitic. The 79-year-old is a supporter of the BDS movement, which calls for a boycott of Israel and advocates an independent Palestinian state. In Germany, where the ideology and goals of the BDS representatives are considered anti-Semitic, politicians in several cities are considering banning Waters’ concerts. In Frankfurt there was an initial attempt to legally challenge the gig there, but a court ruled that a ban was not possible. Previously, Waters had also attempted to intervene through legal channels. According to his lawyers, a ban would be “unconstitutional, unjustified and based on the false accusation”.

During his concerts, Waters also uses visual means to play with political symbols on stage and caused a sensation and criticism with numerous public statements – most recently on the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine, which he described as a defensive war.
