Roger Vangheluwe back in public, pedophile bishop shows up at abbot ordination

Roger Vangheluwe attended the ordination of Geoffroy Kemlin as abbot in the church of Solesmes, a Benedictine abbey in the Loire region. Perhaps he has also been staying in that St. Peter’s Abbey in question for some time. (continue reading below the photo)

Vangheluwe was bishop of Bruges until he confessed in 2010 that he had abused his cousin. He later also confessed to molesting another cousin. He gave a shocking interview about this on television. The facts turned out to be time-barred and Vangheluwe therefore avoided a punishment. He was even allowed to keep his bishop’s title, but he no longer bears any external signs of it: a visibly aged Roger Vangheluwe -86 in the meantime – did not wear a meter or a ring. He was also among priests, not among the bishops.
