Roeselare’s cultural ambassadors create works of art for the future city hall

From the start of the town hall project, a budget has been set aside to integrate art. “We engaged cultural ambassadors from Roeselare to create works for the town hall,” says alderman for urban development Nathalie Muylle. As icing on the cake of the renovation, the artists are now creating monumental works of art. For example, the city of Roeselare wants to put artists from its own region in the spotlight.

“An honor”

The cultural ambassadors are very grateful for the opportunity. “I consider it an honor to be able to create a work for the city in which I was born and where I experienced a lot”, says Ervinck with pride. A sculpture by Ervinck will be placed in the large visitors’ room and a steel work by Schaubroeck will form the decor in the inner garden.

The ideas are there, but what the artworks will eventually look like is not yet certain. For the exact result, it will have to wait until 2024.
