Roeselare starts project on domestic violence

The city of Roeselare and the RIHO police zone (Roeselare, Izegem and Hooglede police zone) will start from 1 October with the new project against domestic violence. At the end of 2021, Minister Verlinden called on all Belgian cities and municipalities to submit project proposals. The city of Roeselare was already very alert to signals of domestic violence among civilians.

More attention

Within the project, the CAW Central West Flanders will focus on training a so-called reference person for domestic violence. These Reference Persons have an important role in alertness and awareness. This is related to the theme within the own municipality and organization. A direct line between those local authorities and the ambulant services of the Central West Flanders CAW are part of this.

“In this way we want to give wider attention to the theme among the local authorities in our region; and make a stronger connection with the assistance on offer,” said Mayor Declercq.
