Roeselare and Menen ready for duel in cup final volleyball
Roeselare is the league leader and therefore the top favorite to take the cup home. They already have fourteen copies in their trophy cabinet. For Menen, this is already their second cup final.
The match of the year
The cup final is the highlight of the year for the Menen team. If it depends on Jelle Sinnesael, this is even the match of his career. “It is the second time in the history of Menen that we can play the cup final and even the first time in the Sportpaleis. It is the day of the year, the day of Menen, the day of me.”
Moreover, they don’t just give up, despite the fact that they are not top favorites. “We are going to do everything we can to make things difficult for Roeselare. It won’t be easy, but we’re up to that challenge. I hope we just play a really good game. Then a lot will be possible”, says a determined Sinnesael.
Busy month
Knack Roeselare’s twentieth cup final will also be the tenth with Mathijs Verhanneman in the team. Knack is going for the fifteenth cup victory, Verhanneman for his eighth. “I currently have seven cups on my palmares and my number is eight. So, that would certainly not be out of place”, says a confident Verhanneman
In any case, March promises to be an absolute top month for the Roeselare volleyball team. In this pretty busy month, no less than eight intense matches are scheduled. There are six games in the play-offs and two in the semi-finals of the CEV Cup against the Italian Piacenza.
On Sunday, both teams will play in a packed Sportpaleis in front of about eight to ten thousand enthusiastic supporters.
