The murder case seems to remain forever unsolved. Until May 3, 2010. Then the 41-year-old Hoogevener Henk F. is arrested. Like a bolt from the blue, there is a DNA match. The police stumble upon the perpetrator by chance. F. has beaten his girlfriend and his cheek swab is taken because of domestic violence. That provides the conclusive evidence, which the police have been looking for for seventeen years.
F. confesses to raping and murdering Andrea. De Hoogevener was finally sentenced in December 2010 to fifteen years in prison. He’s been out for a few years now.
Roelof and Lammi Luten have already exchanged the village of Ruinen for Hungary since 2009. Since then they have been running the Landgoed Kiraly-Tér near Csemö, which is a forty-minute drive from Budapest. There are two luxury holiday homes on the estate for rent to guests.
The estate has been for sale for some time now. According to Lammi Luten (72) because all the maintenance eventually starts to become physically too heavy for them. “We are no longer the youngest. And if we receive holiday guests here, everything must be in tip-top order.”
According to Lammi, there was a lot of work to be done on the estate, especially in the spring. “Because it is a vast area with many trees, and therefore unfortunately quite a lot of leaves that we have to clean up every time,” she told RTV Drenthe a few weeks ago. “So if we get a good offer, we’re out of here. And we’ll see where we end up after that,” Lammi said at the time.
The return to the Netherlands is now forced due to the sudden death of Roelof. The intention is that a condolence for Roelof Luten will be held in the village of Ruinen. Where and when is still unclear. Roelof Luten’s body must first be repatriated from Hungary.
