ROEG! Corners opened in three Drenthe libraries

ROEG! Corners open. Gieten, Beilen and Facet in Emmen create extra attention for nature.

In the ROEG! There are stacks of nature books in the corner, and there are also various activities related to nature in Drenthe.

René van der Weide, alderman of the municipality of Emmen, opened the Hoek in Facet (formerly the library of Emmen). “When you say ‘Drenthe’, you also say ‘nature’: an important core quality that makes people happy to live here. Sometimes that feels very self-evident, but if you’re not careful, nature will deteriorate. Having knowledge of nature, by knowing how to deal with it, but also how to appreciate it, contributes to the preservation of our nature.”

“Nature in Drenthe is always close by, also in the municipality of Emmen,” says Nicole Stiekema, director of Facet. “We have very beautiful nature around us that we can enjoy every day. But it is not yet known to everyone.” She hopes that with the ROEG! Corner visitors to the library become more aware of the richness of nature around them. “We regularly organize activities for adults and children: lectures, treasure hunts, crafts: everything to do for young and old.”

Curious about the activities? These workshops and lectures are already planned, keep an eye on the agenda of the three libraries for new activities.
