Roden’s new library must be a small version of the Groninger Forum

The library, which according to Timmer is already much more than just a place where you can pick up books, will soon undergo a metamorphosis. For example, the entrance will be on the side of the bus station, where a terrace will also appear.

That means that from spring until the opening in September, the library on the Heerestraat will be closed. “We will temporarily set up a library somewhere else in Roden. This is really about borrowing books. For other activities, such as our successful knitting café, we are still looking at a location. Some activities will temporarily stop.”

There is no new name for the ‘library hub’ yet. Residents of the municipality of Noordenveld are asked to think about this. A competition will be held shortly.

Yolanda Timmer does not yet dare to say how much the renovation will cost exactly. “We are putting the last dots on the i, but the amount will be around 1 million euros.”
