Roden honors the work of Vasalis with a work of art on the Heereborchplein

The artwork in honor of poet Vasalis was unveiled this afternoon on a full Heereborchplein in Roden. Artist Cornelis Dings has built up the image with elements from the poem ‘Daphne’.

The artwork is part of the center development of Roden, in which the municipality commissioned the work of the poet Vasalis as inspiration. That has become a three meter high artificial tree, consisting of different trunks, branches, birds and the character Daphne at the top.

The municipality of Noordenveld wanted to beautify the Heereborchplein in Roden with the new city center plans. She saw the opportunity to give Vasalis’ work a place of honor in the middle of the village. A committee has been set up together with the library, people from the neighborhood and entrepreneurs. The Vasalis working group devoted more than two years to the work of art.
