American actor Carl Weathers, known from the “Rocky” films and “Predator,” has died at the age of 76. His family said Weathers fell asleep peacefully. Weathers died Thursday, according to his manager Matt Luber.
The former football player started his Hollywood career in the 1970s and was mainly seen in action films and comedies.
His best-known role was that of Rocky’s arch enemy and later ally Apollo Creed, whom he played in four parts of the “Rocky” series from 1976 alongside Sylvester Stallone. Weathers most recently directed and played a supporting role in the Star Wars series “The Mandalorian.” So he fought with or against Sly, Arnie and Mando.
