Robin van Roosmalen stops kickboxing: ‘With pain and effort’

Robin van Roosmalen from Vught stops kickboxing ‘with pain and effort’. The multiple kickboxing world champion announced this on his social media channels on Friday afternoon. Van Roosmalen was seriously injured in a traffic accident eighteen months ago. His sister Melissa did not survive the accident.

The kickboxer writes that the consequences of the accident have turned out to be too great to overcome.

“Over the past few weeks I have come to the conclusion that I can never go back to my old level. Normally I would let my ego win that battle, but I know how dangerous that battle can be for my health. It is no more what he once was.”

Hall of Fame
Robin van Roosmalen is a big name in the martial arts world. In the past, he was a kickboxing champion in the featherweights and lightweights with the martial arts federation Glory.

Van Roosmalen therefore concludes his argument with an unsubtle appeal to the world’s largest kickboxing organisation, Glory. “I am waiting for my invitation to the Hall of Fame”.

Accident
In January last year, disaster struck when Van Roosmalen and his sister Melissa were involved in an accident on the A2 near Utrecht. The two were in the emergency lane with bad luck. A truck driving over the hard shoulder hit the car.
