Robin van Persie is proud of Tyrell Malacia: ‘He gives young people in the Netherlands hope’ | Orange

Former Manchester United footballer Robin van Persie sees his former team-mate Tyrell Malacia as a perfect role model for the youth. The all-time top scorer of the Orange team played with the defender at Feyenoord and nowadays sees him taking steps under Erik ten Hag at United. “He gives hope to many young people,” said Van Persie.

“I played with him at Feyenoord, so I knew how good he was, and still is, he proves that every game,” Van Persie said on United’s website. ,,He is now active at the highest level and plays against the best players. Not only does he give hope to the young players at United, he gives hope to young people in the Netherlands: if you play well, there is a chance that you will go far and end up with a team like ManU. I am so proud of him.”

Van Persie and Malacia played together at De Kuip during the 2018-2019 season, the attacker’s last season as a professional. Malacia left for Manchester last summer, where the Oranje-international regularly receives playing time from Ten Hag this season.

Van Persie played for ManU between 2012 and 2015. In his first season in Manchester, he became the Premier League’s top scorer and helped the club win the league title.
