They have played 374 international matches together, but in recent years former football players Robin van Persie, Arjen Robben, Ronald de Boer and Rafael van der Vaart share another passion: padel. Besides enjoying playing it, they are also well-known promoters of the sport. On Sunday, October 15, they will compete against each other before the finals of the World Padel Tour in Amsterdam. The World Padel Tour is the largest international tournament in the sport and will take place from October 11 to 15 in AFAS Live.
Robben and Van Persie are a couple, just like De Boer and Van der Vaart. The former already participated in the NK Padel for over-35s and reached the quarter-finals. His doubles partner Van Persie has his own clothing and accessories line for padel. De Boer is an ambassador of Plaza Padel, which manages six padel centers in the country. Finally, Van der Vaart recently played padel with 51 other players for 48 hours and is therefore in the Guinness Book of Records.
