Defender Robin Koch longs to return to the national soccer team after his long injury break.
“For me it’s the greatest thing to play for Germany. When you’ve achieved that, been there and sung the anthem, that’s special,” said the 25-year-old on “Sky”: “It’s an additional motivation for them Training sessions and the games to show up for the national team.”
For Koch, who is fighting to stay up in the Premier League with Leeds United, taking part in the World Cup in winter is the big goal. National coach Hansi Flick has already inquired about his health status.
“The fact that someone asks even in difficult times gives a player a good feeling, especially during the time of the injury,” said Koch, who was out for months last year due to a bruised pubic bone.
Germany starts the World Cup year with an international brace against Israel on March 26 and three days later in the Netherlands.
“We’ll see on Friday whether he’ll be there for the first tests,” said eight-time national player Koch. “I don’t have much time to think about it,” said the ex-Freiburger.
