Helenius switched to carbon fueling on Friday afternoon.
of Robert Helenius the meat diet became a topic of conversation in the international media before the weekend’s top match.
Helenius surprised the journalists by telling about his meat eating and meditation ritual in English. Among other things, a British magazine Express took up the subject and called the diet “extreme”.
That’s what it is. Carbohydrates are kept to a minimum in Helenius’ diet.
A two-meter and more than 110-kilogram body is kept running with meat and fat.
New York time on Friday afternoon, however, the diet changed completely. After the weigh-in, Helenius started refueling for the match.
– That’s where the carbon refueling starts, which continues on Saturday as well. Protein has already been collected well, and I have a fat-optimized body.
– When my body runs on fat, carbohydrates give it even more power. I eat rice, porridge, some potatoes and a few pieces of bread, Helenius opened.
Even at Thursday’s hotel breakfast, he happily enjoyed bacon and eggs. On Wednesday evening, Helenius’ team had dinner at a high-quality steakhouse in New York.
At Friday’s weigh-in, Helenius weighed 114.8 kilograms, while the 201-centimeter Deontay Wilder stopped the scales at 97.1 kilograms. A difference of almost 20 kilograms is big in the heavyweight division.
Heavyweight hitters Helenius and Wilder will meet early Sunday morning Finnish time.
