Robbie Williams dramatically left Take That more than 20 years ago

There was no shortage of drama in the breakup between Take That and Robbie Williams.

In July 1995, the international music world was shocked. British musician Robbie Williams announced that he is leaving the popular group Take That in the middle of the Nobody Else tour.

In addition to Williams, the group included Gary Barlow, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and Howard Donald. The rest of the band decided to continue together, but the departure especially inflamed the relationship between Barlow and Williams.

Williams, who has had a solo career for many years, recently opened up about the events of the 90s in an interview with BBC Radio 2. The man admitted that he is not proud of what he said to Barlow, among others. He called the man helpless, among other things.

Williams described being in the middle of a nervous breakdown when he decided to leave the boy band. The singer was 21 years old at the time.

– Things were not good at home and at work. This extreme popularity was completely new to me, Williams said in an interview with the host To Scott Mills.

– It felt like I was in a burning building and I had to get out. That’s how it felt then.

According to the musician, he would have been ready to finish the tour. However, the other members were of the opinion that it would be best if he left immediately. Take That released one more single after Williams left, but the band eventually broke up in 1996.

Williams felt that he and Barlow had a rivalry over which of them would do better in the music charts. The musician even felt that he got excited about competing.

Sadly, Gary didn’t enjoy competing as much. He was a mature adult who didn’t need that in his life. I wanted so badly for him to match the competition, but like I said, he’s a mature adult.

However, the distance between the members improved over time. William briefly returned to the band in 2010. They released the Progress album together, which included the hit The Flood.

Today, Williams makes music as a solo artist. His biggest hits are Angels, Candy and Rock DJ. The singer will perform at Nokia Arena in Tampere in March this year.

The band Take That will give a concert in Finland at Kaisanieminupuisto in June this year. This time, the five-member band has shrunk to a trio, because in addition to Williams, Jason Orange will not be seen on the tour either.

Take That is now a trio consisting of Howard Donald, Gary Barlow and Mark Owen. PDO
