Robbie Williams is writing a success story with his latest album “XXV”: The singer has managed to surpass an old record of the “King of Rock’n’Roll”: On Friday (September 16) the record climbed to the top of the official British charts Album charts – Williams has a total of 14 number one albums.

“XXV” was released on September 9th. According to the Daily Mail, the singer’s record has now broken Elvis Presley’s record, which has lasted for decades, with his albums reaching number one 13 times. With 14 number one spots on the album charts, Williams now trails the Beatles, who remain the leaders with 15 number one spots.

Just behind the Beatles

Factoring in the success of his former band Take That, Williams has topped the charts a total of 19 times during his career. Here, too, the Beatles are a step ahead of him: Paul McCartney, as a member of the Beatles, Wings and as a solo artist, was able to land 23 times number one in the British charts with his works.

“I’m so glad it went number one and while it feels strange to receive an award in these dark times, I wanted to thank you all for your support and dedicate this to the fans that I never took for granted have and will keep,” Williams said of his new record. In the past he would probably have celebrated his success “with cocaine and strippers”, but today he jokes: “Can I have a kebab, please?”.
