It wasn’t all that bad, Lukkien gave his team a portion of self-confidence towards the first game in the playoffs for survival and two excellent goals. But it still rained big failures on FC Emmen’s report.
Our analyst Rob McDonald was not at all dissatisfied with the way FC Emmen manifested itself in the Galgenwaard. For a moment a monster score threatened, after FC Utrecht took the lead within two minutes, but a small conversion – left winger Assehnoun went ‘lower’ and thus offered more help to left back Dennis Vos – FC Emmen became stronger.
Through the basket
Still, the former striker from Hull, who played for FC Groningen, Wageningen, PSV and BV Veendam, among others, thought that quite a few players fell through the basket. McDonald did not shy away from the four, no less than five people from Emmen received that figure.
There were also positive outliers: McDonald thought Assehnoun was undeniably the best man on the Emmen side. ,,He did a lot of good,” said the tall Englishman. ,,and most importantly: what he did very often paid off, unlike what other players did. Very good, that Assehnoun.”
Better Romeny than Zivkovic
Another player McDonald liked: occasional centre-forward Ole Romeny. “I’d rather see him there than Richairo Zivkovic,” said McDonald. “He is dynamic, strong on the ball and effective. Once he is center forward, he also scores immediately. that’s just fine. Put him in that position.”
