The reason that Rob Kemps behaves so strangely to the media, according to Patrick Kicken, is because he has been walking around with a secret for years. “Just tell me it’s right!”
The image of Rob Kemps is in the ditch. The entertainer was exposed last week as someone who acts nice in front of the scenes, but behind the scenes acts like a brute who hangs wildly on the line everywhere. Or, as Miljuschka Witzenhausen puts it: “There is clearly a Rob in front of the scenes and behind the scenes.”
big secret
Patrick Kicken, the most feared radio columnist in our country, knows why Rob behaves so bizarrely against the media. For years he has been anxiously trying to keep a secret from the press, namely that he is not the voice of his Snollebollekes act at all.
The voice of Snollebollekes is the creator of the act: Jurjen Gofers, Patrick’s former radio colleague. He made a record for carnival in 2013 that was very popular, but with which he did not want to perform himself: Vrouwkes. “There was so much demand for it that an act had to be made up around it,” explains Patrick in his speaking tubecolumn.
“He doesn’t sing himself!”
That’s where Rob came in. “And there a big mistake was made: instead of just saying this honestly, the suggestion was created everywhere that Rob Kemps is the voice on those records of Snollebollekes, the singer of the act. But he is not at all.”
It leaked through the Story last year. An insider told the magazine: “Rob doesn’t sing his songs himself, Jurjen Gofers does that. Rob never tells that in interviews. But I do think his fans should know that.”
Patrick: “After eight years of lying, it had to come out. It was a torment for him too, standing on a stage night after night pretending.”
Rob stimulated
At the time, Rob reacted with irritation to that revelation. “Don’t we all know that when Marco Borsato sings ‘You are a dream lying next to me’, that text is actually by John Ewbank?”, he said in De Telegraaf.
Yet Rob did not admit outright that the Snollebollekes act has indeed been lied to for years. “What does the public care who came up with it? Only, if you really want to know: the real power behind Snollebollekes, the founding fatheris of course Jurjen.”
‘Admit it!’
Patrick thinks Rob would do well to just admit that he lied for years. They’ve only secretly edited all the Wikipedia pages now, he says. “So that it no longer states that Rob Kemps is the singer of Snollebollekes, but that was maintained for at least eight years, from 2013 to 2021.”
He continues: “It would be good for Rob to just sit in a live show like this and say, ‘Yeah folks, it’s true, I pretended to be someone I wasn’t for years, now I’m the real Rob Kemps and I can finally be myself’. Saves a lot of suspicion and sleepless nights! Something like that will eat you up, of course.”
