Rob Goossens thinks it’s good news that Yvonne Coldeweijer has decided to appeal against the croquette verdict after all. He hopes Rachel Hazes loses. “It’s a blunder!”
Yvonne Coldeweijer is no longer allowed to call Rachel Hazes ‘cremated croquette’ by the judge. If she does, she will have to pay up to 50,000 euros. Immediately after the croquette verdict, Rob Goossens was quite fierce about this verdict. The show connoisseur of RTL Boulevard thinks it is downright ridiculous.
Rob supports Yvonne
It is therefore a good thing that Yvonne is appealing, says Rob. He says in the show section: “Soon there will be someone who has the money to go to court because he feels a bit offended and then he says: look, it was also possible in that other case. So I am very happy that she is fighting it and I hope that this blunder will be rectified.”
Colleague Luuk Ikink: “What strikes me, Rob, is that at the beginning, when the business started, Yvonne didn’t actually take it that seriously and just had to laugh about it a bit. And now she is a kind of knight of free speech who stands up for the right to say cremated croquette.”
Croquette verdict
Rob thinks it is logical that Yvonne initially took it lightly. “Because, Luuk, did you seriously expect that at some point we would be told that the words ‘cremated croquette’ may no longer be used? I also thought that was the very last thing the judge would say.”
He continues: “When the verdict was handed down, everyone was actually a bit in shock that it could have come this far. At first Yvonne thought: it makes no sense, but fortunately, encouraged by everything and everyone, she decided to make a point of this anyway.”
What does Evert say?
Private boss Evert Santegoeds also supports Yvonne, he says Show news. “I must say: Yvonne does get support from many angles. From various comedians, from Youp van ‘t Hek among others, who also thinks you should be able to say that. In any case, she feels sufficiently strengthened to take on that battle again.”
Evert also thinks the croquette ban goes far. He wonders what the verdict is on appeal. “Perhaps he also thinks that it is going a bit too far to forbid someone in the Netherlands to call someone else something like cremated croquette.”
‘What is happening here!’
VVD show connoisseur Frits Huffnagel: “I understand that comedians also say: hello, what is happening here? You do have a right to offend. We don’t mean to offend people all the time, but if someone is offended, it doesn’t mean you can’t say it.”
Evert: “It is indeed a matter of principle and the court has gone quite far in this regard. It is important for the future too, for everyone, for all of us, to fight this out.”
