Rob Fruithof passed away on Friday at the age of 71. His son reports this on Facebook. Fruithof had been suffering from cancer for some time.
“Grateful for all the beautiful memories he leaves behind, we announce the death of Rob Fruithof (71)”, it says on Fruithof’s Facebook page. “He passed away on August 25, 2023 due to cancer. He lived in Cape Town, and leaves his son Leon (20) behind.”
Between 1988 and 1996 Fruithof presented the KRO program Waku Waku, a quiz about animals and nature in which well-known Dutch people participated. Later he also presented the program at the TROS On land, at sea and in the air .
Fruithof was less known as an actor, although he did play a number of roles in well-known series. For example, he was seen in the soap On the way to Tomorrow . A few years ago he played a small role in the American series Black Sails . He played a Dutch captain in it.
