Road workers put craftsmanship to the test during the North Holland championship

Five North Holland road pavers couples competed in Heerhugowaard for the North Holland road paving championship. “We don’t look at speed, but purely at cleanliness.”

Martin Vijn, lecturer at the Regional Board and jury member, explains this to media partner Dike and Waard Central. “What does the work look like, is it neatly around it, has it been neatly tidied up and have the boys swept everything neatly?”

The assignment for the would-be pavers is simple, but the elaboration can sometimes be difficult. They get a drawing and they have to measure and copy it as accurately as possible. “We make sure that the stone is perpendicular to the other work, so it is of course important that the cutting seam does not run,” said the jury.
