During road works in the Zuidburgweg and Rodestraat in Veurne, workers discovered the remains of at least four people. According to Mayor Peter Roose, there would have been a cemetery at that location, which was connected to the Sint-Niklaas Abbey.
“The skeletons have now disappeared,” the mayor said. Presumably there are still remains there, tomorrow they will dig further.
