Love, pain and hope: It doesn’t take long for the feelings to get the better of you when you listen to R’n’B singer Tora-i. With an aesthetic shrouded in smoke, the Briton stages herself artistically in an atmospherically gloomy room. The video clip is part of her single “PBFF”, released last November.

In the song, the 21-year-old singer deals with a love affair that simultaneously deals with the emotions of pain and hope. It is about recognizing inner needs and setting limits. At the same time, the track is also intended to explore the newly won freedom after a breakup.

Tora-i, whose real name is Tora Lambie, said of her single, “‘PBFF’ is about acknowledging that people can have a certain effect on you, but also that it doesn’t have to be a permanent burden , but that you can decide what you can learn from them to move forward.”

The musician always wanted to make music, which is why she started taking singing lessons at the age of nine. In her lyrics, she not only addresses the reality of her own life, but also social conditions. She said: “I’ve always wanted to be an artist who represents more than just romantic love songs. There are more things that happen in life than that.”

The Briton with Jamaican-Ghanese roots is still part of the British underground scene. Her first debut EP CAVALIER was released in June 2020. This year she will be on stage at the “South Facing Festival” together with the band London Grammar and the music producer and DJ George Fitzgerald.
