RKC misses the chance of a third win in a row at Excelsior

RKC Waalwijk did not succeed in winning the Eredivisie for the third time in a row. On a visit to Excelsior in Rotterdam, Joseph Oosting’s team came no further than a 0-0 draw.

However, RKC had enough chances to score a goal, although the home club was even better in the first fifteen minutes. Excelsior goalkeeper Stijn van Gassel kept his team going before the break with a header from Iliass Bel Hassani. The pole also saved the Rotterdam formation twice. Mats Seuntjens and Julen Lobete were close to scoring.

Michael Kramer
After the break, Excelsior became a bit more dangerous. After a cross from Siebe Horemans, Reda Kharchouch was just not able to head hard enough in the right direction in the 51st minute. Midfielder Kenzo Goudmijn in turn shot the ball against the crossbar from a distance. RKC was the closest to a goal. Excelsior goalie Van Gassel distinguished himself again shortly before the end, this time with an attempt by substitute Michiel Kramer.

RKC has taken 8 points from the last four matches and is now in ninth place.
