RKC in de Kuip down against Feyenoord

RKC Waalwijk suffered a hopeless defeat against Feyenoord in Rotterdam on Sunday evening. In De Kuip the final score was 5-1, which brings Feyenoord one step closer to the national title.

The leader of the Eredivisie was much too strong for RKC at home. The club from Rotterdam took the lead in the 29th minute through an own goal from Yassin Oukili. Feyenoord ran to 3-0 before the break thanks to goals from Igor Paixão and Quilindschy Hartman.

Paixão and Santiago Giménez scored after the break. They gave Feyenoord a little extra confidence for Thursday’s home game in the quarterfinals of the Europa League against AS Roma.

Julen Lobete saved the honor on behalf of RKC. He scored a goal for RKC with a 5-0 deficit.

Striking fact during the game: the football field was completely surrounded by nets. This makes Feyenoord the only club in the Netherlands for the time being after the stricter measures of the KNVB that oblige referees to stop duels sooner if objects are thrown on the field.

The reason was the cup match in De Kuip last Wednesday, in which Ajax player Davy Klaassen got a lighter against his head that was thrown from the stands.
