RKC goalkeeper Vaessen has left hospital after a hard collision

RKC goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen has left the hospital. This is what attacker Michiel Kramer of the club from Waalwijk said in the NOS program Studio Voetbal on Sunday evening. The goalkeeper collided hard with Ajax player Brian Brobbey on Saturday evening. Vaessen became unconscious and was resuscitated on the field as a precaution.

“He went home under the supervision of the doctor and physio,” said the striker. “It all looked good. The scan showed no bleeding. These are all positive messages.” The players, staff and the public were still very concerned on Saturday evening when Vaessen was treated for minutes on the field of the Mandemakers Stadium in Waalwijk.

The goalkeeper collided hard with opponent Brian Brobbey in the 84th minute of the home game against Ajax on Saturday. He became unconscious and was resuscitated as a precaution. The goalkeeper soon regained consciousness and was taken to a hospital.

Discontinued
The match was stopped because RKC players were too shocked to continue playing. Ajax led 2-3 when the game was stopped. The KNVB expects to be able to provide clarity in the coming days about how and when the match should be played.
