RKC competes against NEC for the playoffs, but cannot win: 1-3

RKC Waalwijk did not manage to keep eighth place in the Eredivisie ranking this round. RKC competed against NEC, the number 9, who quickly proved stronger. The Waalwijkers did not let their heads hang and continued to give full throttle. The team from Nijmegen overtakes them in the ranking with the 1-3 win, although the team from Waalwijk still has a game credit.

The home team started the game strongly, but NEC goalkeeper Cillessen prevented a hit twice. In the 18th minute it hit the other side of the field: NEC midfielder Oussama Tannane tapped a pass into the goal: 0-1.

tricky job
The 0-2 followed less than ten minutes later when Elayis Tavsan hit the ball hard and high into the goal after a nice cut. RKC goalkeeper Vaessen had no chance. Almost fifteen minutes before the break, Tannane scored his second goal of the evening: 0-3.

That seemed to give RKC the signal to accelerate again. Seuntjens shot from far on the crossbar and came close to 3-1 a minute later, but NEC goalkeeper Cillessen was able to save each time.

The Waalwijkers started the second half strongly with several scoring opportunities. The pace was increased and Anita shot the ball in from the rebound in the 61st minute: 1-3. Then NEC got a penalty for a foul on El Karouani. Keeper Vaessen grabbed the ball and thus prevented the 1-4.

In the remaining time, RKC could no longer turn the tide. Despite a long injury time (7 minutes), no more goals were scored in Waalwijk.
