Actor Risto Kaskilahti did careful background work in preparing his daughter’s wedding speech.

Instructions were sought from websites and even from former US President Barack Obama’s speech lessons. However, I couldn’t find an orthodox memory list for a suitable “cross-like” speech, so I had to deal with the situation myself.

– I made it my own. It then reportedly became a speech that went from tears to stand-up, Kaskilahti laughs.

In the middle of the speech, Kaskilahti says that he was moved several times, but his daughter’s wedding day was memorable and great in many ways.

– Words are not enough to describe the roller coaster that the emotions went through. Weddings are overwhelming celebrations anyway, but what made it special was that it was my own daughter.

– I think the surgery went perfectly. It only lasted an hour and a half and only a few spoonfuls of blood were lost.

Kaskilahti has taken a responsible approach to the rehabilitation process and now he is slowly getting back to, for example, walking with a cane. According to his story, the actor has been able to practice even a little stair exercise again, even though the work of an actor itself is physical.

– Theater work involves working with the body, so it’s also a kind of exercise.

In March, however, he returned to the stage as the star guard of the musical Priscilla. Kaskilahti’s character was adapted to suit someone recovering from hip surgery, and the actor is extremely grateful for this.

– It was nice that the director and choreographer were in the spirit. I was helped a little here and there.

Autumn on stage

For work, Kaskilahti’s autumn will be on the stage of the Helsinki City Theater when he is alone Agatha Christie Into a mousetrap based on the characters of the thriller.

– It’s terribly inappropriate to talk about the play in advance. My most important message is that under no circumstances should you read the book beforehand, but come and see it.
