Rise in house prices in Drenthe is leveling off

The rise in house prices in Drenthe is leveling off. This is evident from new quarterly figures from Statistics Netherlands (CBS). Yet you still pay more than a year ago for an owner-occupied home in Drenthe.

Compared to the third quarter of 2021, house prices in Drenthe are now 12.1 percent higher. That is slightly above the national average of 11.9 percent. Nationally, prices had risen by 18.4 percent in previous months. On average, house prices are now rising less sharply.

Only in Drenthe have prices leveled off for the first time this quarter. In all other provinces this is now for the second quarter in a row. The price increase was greatest in Flevoland and Gelderland at 13.4 percent, in Limburg the smallest at 9.6 percent.

Fewer homes have changed hands in all provinces. On average, 6.4 percent fewer homes were sold in the Netherlands. Drenthe stands out at 11.7 percent. It is the largest decrease of all provinces.

Earlier this month, the Dutch Association of Real Estate Agents also announced housing figures. At that time it was still a price increase of 11.1 percent and a decrease in sales of 13 percent. There may be differences between the NVM and the CBS figures. Statistics Netherlands says the following about this: “The NVM also published about the housing market almost three weeks ago. The figures from the NVM and the CBS/Kadaster may differ. This is because the NVM figures are based on the purchase agreements concluded by the NVM. real estate agents and the CBS and the Land Registry measure the price development of all existing owner-occupied homes in the Netherlands and use the deeds of sale that are registered with the Land Registry.
