There is a small Beatles reunion: Ringo Starr, the Fab Four drummer at the time, invited his ex-songwriter and bassist Paul McCartney to perform a song together. He will appear on Starr’s upcoming EP Rewind Forward.
The track that Starr and McCartney recorded is titled “Feeling the Sunlight”. The name is a bit reminiscent of another Beatles classic that recently broke the billion mark in streaming. It’s not the first collaboration between the two since the Beatles died out. They’ve helped each other out on their releases over the decades – most recently on Ringo Starr’s song “Here’s to the Nights,” which was released in 2020.
In addition to McCartney, other musical guests are also represented on the EP. These include ex-Toto members Steve Lukather and Joe Williams, who have been collaborating with Ringo Starr for a long time.
The fact that Starr and McCartney are far from tired of making music together, despite their advanced age, has only recently become clear again. The two ex-Beatles can be heard on a cover of their classic Let It Be, which they recorded with country icon Dolly Parton. There will also be a kind of reunion of the famous quartet from Liverpool soon. Thanks to AI, McCartney and Starr dusted off an old Beatles song that will also feature John Lennon and that George Harrison co-wrote.
Ringo Starr’s Rewind Forward EP is out October 13th.
