Entrepreneur Riina-Maija Palander has been married to ex-alpine skier Kalle Palander for almost 17 years.
Riina-Maija tells in the latest Ilta-Sanom in an interview that the secret of a long marriage is persistence. It is difficult to get Riina-Maija involved in arguments.
– Kalle speeds up from zero to one hundred, while I’m the more moderate of us. I don’t make hasty decisions. I’ll sleep through the night before making any decisions. Rushing will only lead to bad results, Riina-Maija tells IS.
– The only lifeline of our relationship has been the fact that I am an independent person and I need a lot of my own space. Many of my previous relationships have ended because the partner has always wanted to be together, Riina-Maija describes in an interview.
With the publicity, the couple has also decided that they will live abroad. This way, the children of the family do not get bullied because of their parents.

– The news coverage has been really dramatic and often also pointless. It’s sad especially because of the children. We have four children who can read. Many things have been written about things that haven’t even really happened, Riina-Maija tells IS.
– I will hardly ever move back to Finland, he sums up in the interview.
Kalle Palander filed for divorce alone in January 2021. However, in October of the same year, the couple jointly canceled the application.
