Riikka Sallinen to the Hockey Hall of Fame

Riikka Sallinen became a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame.

The Hockey Hall of Fame gained new members. The striker received a great tribute from the Finns Riikka Sallinen. The legend of the female lion is the first European woman to be nominated for an honorary gallery.

Other Finns in the Hockey Hall of Fame are Teemu Selänne and Jari Kurri in 2017 and 2001.

The 49-year-old JYP bred played mainly in his women’s hockey career in the Women’s Championship and in the Swedish Women’s SDHL. She represented the Female Lion until 2019. Among other things, he won two Olympic bronzes and one World Championship silver.

In her long career, she has played a total of 135 matches in the Women’s Championship Series. There were 45 games in the Women’s World Championships and 23 in the Olympics.

Sallinen ended his career as early as 2003, but returned to the trough ten years later.

The other members elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame were Daniel Alfredsson, Roberto Luongo, Herb Carnegie mixed Henrik and Daniel Sedin.

The Swedish Alfredsson and Sedin brothers were the most successful NHL players in the 2000s and 2010s. The Swedes will find the 2006 Gold Olympics in Turin.

The Sedins represented Vancouver Canucks and Alfredsson throughout their NHL careers, with the exception of the Ottawa Senators.

Luongo had a long career as a goalkeeper for the Florida Panthers and Vancouver Canucks. He won two world championships and two Olympic golds for the Canadian national team.

The late Carnegie influenced hockey from the late 1930s until the early 1950s. Having Jamaican roots, Carnegie fought racism and helped develop the species in Canada. After completing his hockey career, he founded the country’s first hockey schools in Canada.
