In an interview, Rihanna said her Superbowl performance in February 2023 had nothing to do with a new album. As part of her upcoming Savage x Fenti Vol.4 show, the pop star was interviewed by “AP News” released. In May 2022, she had a child with rapper A$AP Rocky, which is only one reason for her long musical hiatus.
The Barbados singer was aware: “The second I [meinen Superbowl-Auftritt] announced, I said to myself, “Oh my god, they’re going to think there’s a new album coming out. I have to get to work.” So Rihanna addresses her fans directly and says about the release of a new album: “That’s not true. Super Bowl is one thing. New music is a different matter. Did you hear that, fans?”
Rihanna’s last album ANTI was released in 2016, which is why the first theories about a long-awaited new album arose after the announcement of her performance at the Superbowl. When she actually released new music in the form of the song “Lift Me Up” for the movie “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” speculation grew even greater.
But she was not idle, because her “Savage x Fenty Show Vol.3” won the Emmy in 2022 in the category “Outstanding Choreography For Variety Or Reality Programming”. Speaking of this year’s show, available to stream on Amazon Prime Video from Wednesday (09 November), she said: “It’s always a challenge to top the previous show. Next year will be the biggest challenge because this year has already been such a massive show and I don’t know how we can beat that but we’ll try.”
Additionally, the singer said there may not be much of her in the foreseeable future because “when I leave my baby, I leave it for something special” — like her Superbowl performance in February 2023. “It was now or never for me,” Rihanna said of her upcoming halftime show, as she had the chance to appear on the halftime show in 2019 but turned it down out of solidarity with football player Colin Kaepernick.
Nothing is known yet about Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s baby, except that it is a boy and was born on May 13, 2022. “We just didn’t get to [mehr über unser Kind preiszugeben]. We just lived. However, I think it is true that there is a certain freedom in just giving everything to the public.”
