Deron Payne has signed a 3-year contract with FC Volendam. The 19-year-old right back plays for Royal HFC in the second division this season.
De Hoofddorper played football in the youth team of AZ between 2013 and 2017. The fact that FC Volendam is now picking him up from HFC in Haarlem is because, according to technical director Jasper van Leeuwen of FC Volendam, he has broken through there this season.
“He is a boy who really stood out for us in the second division, especially when you talk about potential,” said Van Leeuwen on the FC Volendam website. “We see in Deron a modern wing defender: he is an athlete who can cover the entire wing, can hold his own in duels and also can play football well with a certain calmness on the ball. That profile is interesting and also important in our playing style. “
Payne will initially join the selection of Jong FC Volendam, which also plays in the second division. He has played eighteen games at HFC so far this season, of which ten times in the starting lineup.
