Those places have been found. For example, several places have been created along the fishing pond where people can fish. It is a win-win situation: it is the only place along the water where you can come by car, but for local residents it means less nuisance. “A lot of people complained that fishermen sat right next to the houses, as well as in the backyard.” There were also many night fishermen to be found. “The municipality now has clear rules about where you can fish at what time, to accommodate both parties.”
It was not the only frustration of local residents. Many people were also annoyed by the fact that dogs were swimming and running loose everywhere and nowhere. That is why a special area has been set up, behind a fence, where dogs are allowed to swim. “That was a big puzzle”, Geertsema admits. Dog owners were critical of the place, because it shouldn’t be too deep. “In the end this place was found”, Geertsema points to a spot just behind the sports beach.
