For the 2018 team Olympic champion, the already difficult season came to an early end. “Not exactly the nicest way to end the season, but somehow it is symbolic of the past winter,” wrote the 31-year-old on Instagram.
The three-time world champion Riessle is currently only 20th in the overall World Cup. He did not qualify for the Olympics in Beijing and was therefore absent from a major event for the first time since the 2011 World Championships.
