Baku is one of those players that you got to know as a great promise in your position and then you always find yourself in the “extended circle” of every list when it comes to full-backs with potential. His performance data from this season doesn’t necessarily read badly, but maybe a new impetus is a good idea for him personally. Do any of you other users have more context about his current importance for Wolfsburg?
Baku is a rather difficult case. In theory, he has the potential to be a great RV and also to play a good role in the national team. However, he hardly calls up the potential after his first outstanding season. Sometimes his actions always seem very arrogant. He keeps adding tricks, step-overs and other things that are completely unnecessary or inappropriate in the situation. It almost seems as if he really wants to show what he can do.
Offensively he can be a weapon. Defensively, his performances are really bad. It is significant that a few games ago he lost his regular place to Fischer (who played in the 2nd league last season or in the 3rd league two seasons ago). Simply because it is absolutely solid defensively. Exactly the opposite of Baku. He has often heard criticism from Kovac for his lack of defensive behavior. However, because Fischer has had minor problems lately, Baku has regained this place for the time being. However, I still don’t really find him convincing.
However, his quota with his goals is also deceptive. He scored all of those 5 goals in a span of 6 games during our strong streak. After that there was nothing more, apart from 2 templates last.
In principle, I would be open to a sale. Especially if you could really get 20 million. That would be a good sum.
