Riding: Miracle mare Danedream is dead

German horse racing mourns the loss of the miracle mare Danedream.

According to consistent reports, she was euthanized on August 31st at the age of 15. Danedream sensationally won the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in Paris in record time in 2011 under jockey Andrasch Starke.

Danedream was bred by the Brümmerhof stud and was sold for just 9,000 euros. In her illustrious career, the mare, trained by Peter Schiergen in Cologne, won 3.766 million euros.

Danedream celebrated eight wins in 17 starts. In addition to the Arc, she also won the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot and the Baden Grand Prix at Iffezheim twice.

Before her Arc victory, Teruya Yoshida joined as co-owner, for whom Danedream eventually switched to breeding in her new home of Japan with little success.
