The richest dogs and cats in the world

A ranking that is drawn up by analyzing their personal Instagram accounts (but not all have them) and on the basis of the assets of their reference humans. In other words, it’s an estimate. But useful to let us enter the golden and furry world of the four-legged Scrooge McDuck.

1. Günther VI, the controversial German shepherd (Italian) “star” on Netflix

First on the list, or the richest dog in the world, is therefore Günther VI. He descends from a dog adopted – according to legend – by a German countess, Carlotta Von Liebenstein, who chose her lineage to make a real fortune in her name upon her death in 1992: 80 million dollars.

German shepherd, Günther VI is Italian, because he is a descendant of the Tuscan Günther III adopted by the noblewoman during a stay in Italy. And because he lives in Italy, under the care of Maurizio Mian.

The story of this ultra rich dog is full of mysteries and shadows. One of the versions has it that the countess was struck by the name of the animal, the same as her son’s who died in a car accident, and that she decided to spend the last years of her life with him and then designate him and her lineage of her as sole heirs of his fortune. There is certainly that the assets are managed by the Günther Trust and from Maurizio Mian, in fact, an entrepreneur from Pisa, who some have considered a pharmacologist, but with a passion for rock and business.

The fact is that in the past 30 years, the lineage has made itself noticed in a rather questionable way. Tra more or less mysterious real estate investments that made his fortune rise to something like 440 million euros. And then Guiness World Record for assets, the purchase of Madonna’s villa in Miami, the presidency of football teams. And also strange social experiments. The story of Günther IV, the Trust and the Corporation was recently told in the Netflix docuseries Günther’s millions with particular attention to the aforementioned Maurizio Mian.

2. Nala Cat, the entrepreneurial cat

Entered the Guinness Book of Records in 2020 after exceeding 4 million followers on Instagram (today it has exceeded 4.5), it is the star of feline personal branding. Adopted battered from a shelter by Shannon Ellis and Varisiri Methachittiphan, Nala today he has an estimated assets of 100 million dollars (88 million euros). Thanks to the tender shots shared on the social network by his “mothers”? But also various sponsorships and the “Love Nara” cat food line.

3. Olivia Benson, Taylor Swift’s cat

It’s named after Mariska Hargitay’s character in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She doesn’t have her own Instagram account. But she lives on income, that is thanks to the global fame of its owner Taylor Swift. Scottish Fold Olivia Benson can get over two million views with one shot (this is the case of the one below, “Captain Olivia Benson off duty”).

But the cat earned her esteemed fortune by starring alongside her owner in several music videos, created her own line of merchandise, and had cameos in many big commercials. Taylor Swift owns by the way two other cats named Meredith Gray and Benjamin Button (these also have names “stolen” from TV and cinema). And she calmly says she is “obsessed” with them. «I can safely say that I have placed them among the things that influence my life the most. We have many projects together.” Estimated fortune, 85.4 million euros (97 million dollars).

4. Richest dogs and cats in the world, those of Oprah Winfrey in fourth place

Followed by Sadie, Sunny, Lauren, Layla and Luke, aka the dogs of Oprah Winfrey. OReach of them boasts its own trust fund and together they will inherit $30 million when Oprah dies.

In fifth position among the richest dogs and cats in the world, Jiffpomaka the highest earning dog influencer, equivalent of the feline Nala.

Continued Choupettethe cat birmana by Karl Lagerfeld, who inherited $13 million upon the designer’s death. A figure that makes it the third richest cat.

In seventh place on the list we find Pontiac, the Golden Retriever adopted by the late actress Betty White. The sum received by the big dog as an inheritance is 5 million dollars.

Pug, Golden and Shiba Inu: furry, cute and very rich

Tied for eighth place, with an estimated wealth of 1.3 million euros, three dogs. Doug The Pug is a pug who lives in Nashville, Tennessee. Thanks to his pet parents Leslie Mosier and Rob Chianelli he has 13 million followers but he is rich and famous also because he has appeared, among others, alongside Shakira, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, John Legend, Katy Perry.

Then there is Tucker, a beautiful Golden Retriever born May 2, 2018. His “manager mom” is called Courtney Budzyn and is the creator of his popularity on YouTube and Instagram. She lives in Michigan.

Still in eighth place Shiba Inu Marutaro. Holding the title of the happiest dog in Japan, he has appeared in many television commercials and TV programs. Marutaro’s Instagram page was opened by his owner, Shinjiro Ono, with the aim of spreading happiness after the devastating earthquake of 2011.
