Private toilets in the festival backstage? According to author and comedian Richard Osman (brother of Suede bassist Mat Osman), the late British rock icon David Bowie had a private washroom backstage at a festival in Barcelona. When Osman used the carpeted room, he was promptly asked to leave.

Richard Osman reminisces in an interview on “Radio X”: “As [Suede] became big, those were the best three years of all time.” At the end of the 90s he accompanied Suede on their tour. Now he gives an insight into the time and says that “the only good thing about being backstage at a festival is that the toilets are nicer.” At a festival in Barcelona, one of them was said to be particularly nice. But when Osman wanted to use the quiet place, there was a knock on the door. “Please leave David Bowie’s toilet,” he was told.
Richard Osman published his latest book, “The Last Devil to Die,” in September. His brother Mat Osman still plays bass with Suede to this day. The band announced the deluxe version of their album AUTOFICTION on November 8th and released the bonus track “The Sadness In You, The Sadness In Me”.
