Richard Douma, born in Zaandam, has won the National Championships 10 kilometers. In a time of 28 minutes and 45 seconds he was just ahead of Filmon Tesfu and Nik Lemmink. The Greetings from Schoorl Run was won by Mustefa Kedir (28:38).
“I would have liked to win the race, but I noticed that they were walking at my back. Then I thought let it go and then I will go for that National Championship title. I ran with the brakes on for the last 300 meters and on the last straight “I was able to anticipate the stretch well. I don’t want to brag, but I just know that I have the most speed because I’m coming off the track,” was Douma’s first reaction.
Among the women, the Dutch title went to Jacelyn Gruppen (32:59), followed by Anne Luijten (33:05) and Veerle Bakker (33:13). The race was won by the Swedish Sarah Lahti (32:13).
NH Sport followed the athletes Lucas Nieuweboer and Filmon Tesfu today. A report on this will follow on Monday.
