Richard Bradbury returns after 12 years as CEO

In 2010, Richard Bradbury left his position as managing director at fashion retailer River Island to pursue “other interests”. In the meantime he apparently had enough time for this, because according to reports from the British news platform “Retail Week” he will take up his former post again on January 1st.

Bradbury succeeds Will Kernan. In November, Kernan announced his retirement to “pursue personal projects.” His last day as CEO is December 31st. He will continue to support the company in the implementation of a number of digitization projects until the end of April.

Up until a few years ago, River Island still had physical stores in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. In 2019, the company announced that physical stores in the BeNeLux had become too expensive and that it would focus on e-commerce in the region. Since then, the fashion retailer has only been active there as an online retailer, as it was in Germany before.
