Rich & Royal protects clothing and the environment in cooperation with GUPPYFRIEND

Environmental protection and a responsible approach to fashion go hand in hand. For Rich & Royal, this means not only the use of more sustainable materials, environmentally friendly production processes and short supply chains within Europe – but also creating awareness of what happens to the collections after purchase.

In order to reduce the ecological footprint of each individual piece of clothing, they have to be worn for a long time. That also means: carefully cared for and carefully washed. Ideally in the innovative wash bags from GUPPYFRIEND, which are now available in the Rich & Royal online shop.

GUPPYFRIEND laundry bags protect both textiles and the environment. Scientific tests have shown that by washing in a bag, garments made of synthetic fabrics and material blends with synthetic components lose 86 percent fewer fibres, so that the quality is retained for a long time. Clothing made from natural fibers can also be gently washed in it.

The few fibers that inevitably break off are caught in the washing bag – so that the microplastic particles don’t get into the sewage system, don’t pollute the seas, aren’t ingested by marine animals and don’t end up on our plates. Because one of the frightening forecasts by the United Nations on the status of aquaculture in 2020 is: By the middle of the century there will be more plastic in the sea than fish. This also includes the so-called microplastics.

“For us, environmentally conscious action does not end with the purchase of a Rich & Royal item of clothing, but continues with the right care and careful washing behavior,” say Patrick and Denis Stupp, Managing Directors of Rich & Royal. “The GUPPYFRIEND laundry bags are an indispensable solution for us to protect both clothes and the environment. And they remind us all that we need to be more sustainable throughout the lifecycle of our products.”

At the start of Earth Week from April 25 to April 29, 2022, all Rich & Royal employees will receive a free GUPPYFRIEND wash bag. Customers can now buy these in the Rich & Royal online shop. Proceeds will be donated to the charity STOP! Micro Waste” donated.
