Rich and penniless: home is surprising

Anne, who is moving into the apartment of the rich for an exchange week, thinks the home is modest.

The rich and the penniless are used to the fact that the homes of the parties differ considerably from each other. However, that is not the case this time.

Long-term unemployed Anne Tuulia Hietanen is amazed when he sees his exchange week apartment. It is also located in an apartment building, just like he himself. Both the rich and the poor live on rent.

– I’ve been surprised, when we talk about rich people, that they still live relatively modestly, says Anne Mali Kongsom and Mark Tikan to a friend Matti Sirviö.

He tells Anne the same thing that Markku has already explained to the cameras before. The new family of five is living a kind of transition. Mali and her three daughters have arrived in Finland from Thailand three years ago. Markku’s three adult sons already live on their own.

– I used to live in a 200-square-meter semi-detached house in Puotila. I had a swimming pool, a jacuzzi and a 300 square meter garden there, Markku describes his previous home in Helsinki.

However, the house was not suitable for three children, so the family decided to look for a better one instead. It just hasn’t happened as expected yet.

– The world situation is such that we have to wait a while to see if the prices fall. That’s why we now live on rent. We will start looking for our own house.

Marku’s and Mali’s and Anne’s homes are not one to one. The square footage is different, as is the interior. Markku and Mali immediately draw attention to the fact that Anne’s furniture is old. He also doesn’t have the same motorized bed as Marku and Mali. In fact, Anne’s bed is 20 years old and has a hole. He got the majority of his other furniture – or found it in a junkyard – for free.

Anne, contacted by Iltalehti, says that Marku and Mali’s apartment really resembled her home.

– It was a normal rental apartment. We had the same oven and refrigerator. I can’t say I was disappointed, but I was expecting a whirlpool and swimming pool, Anne confesses.

He still underlines that he enjoyed every second as a guest of Marku and Mali. He especially liked that the apartment had its own sauna, which he lacks.
