As number two on the list of GroenLinks, she received more votes during the municipal elections than the party leader, Sjoerd Bakker. GroenLinks has 3 seats in the Assen city council. Haan’s political career started three years ago. “Then there were no elections for the city council,” she says. “In Drenthe politics I started working on social portfolios. I really enjoy coming into contact with people and coming up with solutions. And then you quickly end up with the city council.”
