Rhodesgoed opens a pop-up tent a week and a half after a fire

Hilde Donck, Brasserie Rhodesgoed: “It was already the night itself when my husband and I were watching here in our pajamas. Then he said to me: ‘Honey, it will be with a tent this summer’. Really “I have so much respect for my husband. How he got the whole team of experts, contractors, our staff going, with full drive, to open again today.”

But they will never be able to forget what happened that night of July 2. “My husband and I call it our baby. So yes, you see it go up in flames and you are powerless. All you can do is watch. I thought it was going to be better than expected, but when we were allowed in the first time, did we become very quiet. I was indeed emotional, because you look around and see that everything is black. That really sinks in.”

The fire still smells at the top of the restaurant. Fortunately, you will not notice it outside, in the pop-up tent and on the terrace. In the meantime, reservations are coming in smoothly.
