Rhineland-Palatinate state government wants to overturn 2G in retail

The Rhineland-Palatinate state government wants to do without the previous corona restrictions in retail. Prime Minister Malu Dreyer (SPD) said on Wednesday in Mainz that she would work at the Prime Ministers’ Conference (MPK) on Wednesday next week to ensure that there would be a nationwide decision on this issue. “It is clear that 2G will definitely fall in retail.”

The state government presented a “Corona timetable for spring” on Wednesday. The federal state could “step by step into a bit more adjustment and relaxation,” said Dreyer.

“Shopping will then be possible again as normal, only with the mask,” said Economics Minister Daniela Schmitt (FDP). Rhineland-Palatinate will also return to the 2G regulation in gastronomy on March 4th – an additional test or booster vaccination will then no longer have to be proven. Further steps mentioned were loosening access to major events and in sports.

Although the number of infections is still high, said Dreyer, they are no longer increasing as dynamically as in January. “We assume that we will reach the apex in mid-February, also here in Rhineland-Palatinate.” The hospitals dealt with the situation very professionally. (dpa)
