Rhein-Neckar Löwen bring Reichmann as Groetzki’s replacement

The Rhein-Neckar Löwen have reacted to the injury-related loss of national handball player and captain Patrick Groetzki and signed former European champion Tobias Reichmann, who was recently out of contract.

The 35-year-old left-hander signed a working paper that is valid until the end of the season, as the Bundesliga club announced. Reichmann, who played for third division team TV Emsdetten last season, could make his debut in the quarter-finals of the DHB Cup on February 4th against SC Magdeburg.

“He made a good impression during the trial training and will enrich our young team with his experience,” said coach Sebastian Hinze about the 106-time national player, for whom the Lions are the fourth stop in the Bundesliga. Groetzki suffered a foot injury while playing for the national team. Groetzki and Reichmann won bronze together at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
